A Magical Weekend in Paris!

Hello again!

It has been a little while since I last updated my blog but it is just as well as I have an awful lot of exciting things to share with you this time. As you can see from the title, I spent the weekend in Paris which was incredibly exciting as I had not visited before. I also met up with some friends from Bangor and spent the weekend with them which was very special as it is always nice to see friends from the UK and share exciting year abroad experiences with them. We all arrived on Friday evening so we went to have food in a lovely French restaurant and visited Notre Dame when it was all lit up which was a lovely start to our holiday! On Saturday we spent the day at Disneyland and then on Sunday we visited the main sights in Paris which was wonderful! So now I am going to tell you all about it in more detail as I am bursting to share it with you! However, before I get started I would just like to let you know that I have uploaded some photos of Paris onto the 'Extra Travelling' page of the blog so please take a look at those to see what it was like in pictures. You will have to scroll through some photos from other adventures that I have had in France to get to them but they are there :)

On Saturday morning, we set off for Disneyland nice and early in order to give us plenty of time to do everything we wanted to do there. As you can imagine, for a group of 20 year old's this was very very exciting! We sat on the metro for Disneyland buzzing and could hardly sit still as we counted down the stops until our destination. Once we arrived we joined the long line of people waiting to go into the park but luckily it was very fast moving and therefore did not take too long to get in. However, we did have a rather hair raising start when Louisa's ticket would not be accepted at the entrance. Luckily, once we got to the ticket office they realized that it was the wrong ticket so just made her pay the remaining money to get in. This was annoying but we were glad to be able to get in after all of the excitement.

Once we were in the park, we worked our way around and managed to go on all of the following rides: Snow White, Les Voyages de Pinocchio, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, The Mad Hatters Tea Party, Alice in Wonderland Labyrinth, Peter Pan, It's a Small World, and Aladdin's kingdom! So it was a very busy and exciting day :) We also had a lovely lunch in a restaurant called Pizzeria Bella Notte where we actually found cheesy garlic bread! As that is something that all of us have been craving sine the summer due to it being scarce in France we were all very happy and very much enjoyed it. At the end of the day we were fortunate enough to see a beautiful Christmas display which included a fantastic display of lights on the most enormous Christmas tree I have ever seen, pretend snow, and a lovely selection of Christmas songs.  We were all very tired but satisfied with our Disney adventure at the end of the day so went to sleep very quickly that night.

We had another early morning on Sunday as we went to visit some of the main sights in Paris. We managed to visit the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Elysees Christmas market, the River Seine and the Arc de Triomphe so we managed to do a lot! It was extremely cold but we made sure we warmed up every now and again with a hot chocolate so that did the trick and kept our energy up. We also had lunch and a catch up with another friend from Bangor on the Champs Elysees which was also a bonus.

We are all now back in our placement towns after a content and relaxing journey back last night. We were supposed to be meeting up with our friends from Bangor who are doing their Erasmus placement in Belgium but unfortunately Disneyland was so large and busy that it was very very hard to find them. However, I am hoping that I will be able to see them both at some point in semester 2 so will look forward to that. And now to bring on my 21st birthday which is tomorrow! I am going to spend the day in Lyon with another friend from Bangor which will be lovely so I am all excited again now!

So for now, I am going to stop writing but will be doing a post about my 21st birthday in France very soon.

A bientot!
